Here are some of the most beautiful natural areas in the region:


PARQUE REGIONAL DE SIERRA ESPUÑA

Location | Approximately 40 km northwest of Murcia.

Features | This is the largest natural park in the Murcia region, with impressive mountains, dense forests and deep gorges. The park is popular for hiking, mountain biking and bird watching. You can find wild boars, eagles and foxes, among other animals.

Highlights | Hiking to the top of Morrón de Espuña (1,583 m), the "Pozos de la Nieve" (old ice cellars), cycling routes and picnic areas.


PARQUE REGIONAL SALINAS Y ARENALES DE SAN PEDRO DEL PINATAR

Location | On the coast, near Lo Pagán and San Pedro del Pinatar.

Features | This coastal nature reserve is known for its salt pans, sand dunes and wetlands that are home to flamingos and other migratory birds.

Highlights | Hiking trails along the salt lakes and the beach of Playa de la Llana, bird watching, especially in spring and autumn, the famous mud baths of Lo Pagán.


PARQUE REGIONAL DE CARRASCOY Y EL VALLE

Location | Directly south of the city of Murcia.

Features | This natural park offers a mix of mountains, forests and spectacular views over the city of Murcia and the surrounding valleys. The area is perfect for a short escape from the city.

Highlights | The Santuario de la Fuensanta sanctuary, with beautiful views, hiking trails through pine forests and mountains, several picnic areas and recreation areas.

PARQUE REGIONAL DE CALBLANQUE, MONTE DE LAS CENIZAS AND PEÑA DEL ÁGUILA

Location | On the coast, between Cartagena and La Manga.

Features | This park offers one of the best preserved Mediterranean coastal landscapes, with pristine beaches, cliffs and dunes.

PARQUE REGIONAL SIERRA DE LA PILA

Location | Northeast of Murcia, near Fortuna and Abarán.

Features | A mountainous nature reserve with impressive views and quiet hiking trails, ideal for nature lovers who want to avoid the crowds.

Highlights | Climb the Pico de la Pila for panoramic views and protected flora such as holm oaks and aromatic shrubs.


PARQUE NATURAL DE LAS LAGUNAS DE CAMPOTEJAR

Location | In Molina de Segura, about 10 km from Murcia.

Features | A small but important nature reserve with lagoons where you can spot many birds, such as ducks and herons.

Highlights | Birdwatching points along the lagoons, short walking trails around the lakes.
